Setting up some morning rituals helps start off your day right. The first ritual you pick should be a slow one. Deliberately taking time to slow down first thing in the mornings could reduce your daily stress.
We've covered why making your bed in the morning is a good way to start your day, but it goes beyond ritual. The Positivity Blog explains why we shouldn't rush to check email or make breakfast right away:
Do it and the next few things at a relaxed and calm pace. It will probably not take that much longer than if you do it quickly. And you'll be able to stay present more easily, to focus on each thing you do and to find a simple joy or stillness in it.Do that instead of increasing your stress right away and getting stuck in worries or thought loops about what may happen today before you even have had your breakfast. When you wake up and starting doing your first thing of the day, then slow it down a bit.
If you don't want to make your bed, try a pour-over coffee or some morning gratitude. You might have to get up a littler earlier to slow down your mornings, but you'll start off with less stress. If you have got kids, you might need to work a little harder the night before to have a less hectic morning.
