Um, it was the '70s, and I was doing a lot of drugs. Frankly, even I'm not entirely sure what
parts of the movie are about.

Set in the year 2293 on a post-apocalyptic Earth, Zardoz is a 1974 science fiction film written, produced and directed by John Boorman.
In the movie, the Brutals are controlled by the Exterminators, who are in turn controlled by a huge stone head called Zardoz. Actor Sean Connery, in his second film after leaving the James Bond franchise, plays Zed, an Exterminator.
Zardoz is revealed to be an Eternal called Arthur Frayn who, years previously, taught Zed to read and pointed him toward the book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Zed now realises the origin of the name Zardoz (WiZard of Oz), indicating that Zardoz is not a god but simply a manipulative individual.
