The Pan Pina bakery in the Spanish village of Algatocin has created the world’s most expensive bread by adding a touch of edible gold leaf to one of their bread varieties. Juan Manual Morena, the owner of Pan Pina got the idea from another shop that touted the ‘worlds most expensive coffee’, and figured he could jazz his own product up a little with a small bottle of gold leaf worth over $100.
While the gold makes the bread look super cute, it doesn’t do much for flavor, though Moreno doesn’t care since his gold bread has people coming to his bakery from all over the world to show off how much money they have.

While I would never pay $100 for a loaf of bread (especially when there are starving children in 3rd world countries like Detroit), I can’t hate on the man for being enterprising. If you ever find yourself in Spain, you should at least stop by the bakery and snap a photo of the gold loaf, if for nothing else, to make all your Internet friends jealous of your fame and fortune.
